POSITIONS AVAILABLE AT AACTE

The American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education is a national voluntary organization of colleges, universities and other providers dedicated to improving the quality of the preparation of education personnel. The association has a staff of 38 employees, approximately 830 members and a budget of 5 million.


Title: Program Associate for Membership
Supervisor: Director for Membership
Department: Membership Department

General Description:
The Program Associate will assist the Director for Membership with the overall operations of the membership department. Specific responsibilities include administration of the membership database; regular communications with members and potential members; processing of membership applications and dues invoices; generation of membership reports; member services development and implementation; member recruitment and retention efforts; and Annual Meeting membership event planning and execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the integrity of the membership database, including regular mailing of Institutional Representative update forms to member institutions, updating the database, and sending e-mail notices and reminders
  • Contact the institution and/or conduct research via the Web when necessary to maintain up-to-date institutional information
  • Assist the Director for Membership in the development of the membership database structure to meet retention and recruitment goals
  • Manage the development and maintenance of the prospective member database
  • Provide “first-line” communications with members and potential members; respond to requests in a timely manner
  • Process new member applications and follow-up with the necessary paperwork/database changes for dropped members
  • Maintain records pertaining to system members, affiliate members, regular members, joint AACTE/NACCTEP members, and other membership types as necessary
  • Assist the Director for Membership  and accounting staff with annual dues processing, mailing and related follow-up
  • Manage the data output, proofreading and initial formatting of the annual Membership Directory
  • Assist the Director for Membership with the preparation and implementation of Annual Meeting events such as materials preparation, invitations and on-site management of the Membership Exhibit booth
  • Assist the Director for Membership with the preparation of statistical reports for the Board of Directors, staff and other constituents
  • Assist in the management and generation of member and prospective member correspondence and marketing and recruitment efforts
  • Provide general assistance to the Director for Membership and other staff as required
  • Assist the Director for Membership in the development and management of various member service, recruitment and retention projects.
Qualifications:

    Required qualifications include a minimum of two years administrative experience (some membership/customer service experience preferred) and database management experience (iMIS database management experience a plus). Ideal candidate will be detail-oriented; able to multi-task effectively; have proven customer/member services skills; possess good written and oral communication skills and have light bookkeeping experience.



Title: Vice President for Development and Fundraising
Department: Development and Fundraising
Staff: Professional/Administrative team to be appointed

General Description:
Responsible for the planning, development and implementation of development and fundraising activities. Maintain relationships with current funders, establish relationships with potential funders, and solicit funds from governmental sources, private institutions, philanthropic foundations and the broader academic community in support of designated association programs and projects. Manage the preparation of grant proposals and monitor compliance with funding and grant contracts. Manage designated department programs and projects.

Responsibilities:

Program development, implementation and evaluation

  • Design, evaluate and execute educational programs approved by the President/CEO and Board of Directors
  • Collaborate with other vice presidents to ensure the coordination of program development, policy, advocacy and professional initiatives
  • Identify, research, solicit and cultivate new educational/information opportunities among targeted segments
  • Plan, implement and evaluate outreach and follow-up strategies
  • Prepare and submit proposals for approval and execute programs with identified groups
  • Manage current grants and proposals, ensure deliverables, comply with timelines and prepare for contract/grant extensions and/or renewals
  • Develop and implement procedures for awarding grants. Solicit and screen proposals for funding
  • Serve as the liaison between grantors and the Association
  • In collaboration with the Communications Manger, develop media coverage of programs and activities.
Development/Fundraising
  • Develop fundraising plans for both annual operating budget and external funds
  • Supervise the development of systems to ensure accurate collection and maintenance of grant/contract proposals, agreements, reports, budgets and deliverables
  • Develop relationships with researchers, educators and practitioners as possible consultants on projects and programs
  • Identify possible new sources of funding and prepare or supervise the preparation of proposals for funding. Oversee the conduct of research for related activities.
Administration
  • Supervise Development and Fundraising staff
  • Develop and implement administrative procedures for the day-to-day operations of the department
  • Manage the preparation of reports, materials, briefings, bulletins, newsletter articles, etc., for the Board of Directors, President/CEO, relevant staff, outside organizations and members
  • Work with the Vice President/COO for Finance and Administration to prepare necessary budgets and other financial information
  • Prepare agenda and materials for Board of Directors and other relevant meetings, including the Annual Meeting
  • Institute systems to keep members and others advised of activities and projects
  • Communicate regularly with President/CEO, Board of Directors, Vice Presidents, appropriate committee members and headquarters staff regarding programs and projects
Qualifications:
  • Masters degree and experience within the education community preferred
  • Proven experience and skills in program management, fundraising, proposal writing, research, staff supervision, and budget planning and management
  • Experience working with funders, project/program participants and collaborative work with various groups and organizations
  • Experience with a variety of professional writing applications and styles
  • Experience with supervising staff and overseeing the work of others
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • High level of oral and written communication skills
