How does a web conference work?

A conference is held in an innovative social software environment that facilitates effective adult learning. Conferences include both live web seminar events and presentations prerecorded for delivery in a web seminar format. Participants interact with both conference presenters and other conference participants by posting and responding to comments and questions, providing and accessing resources and participating in online chats. Live sessions are recorded and archived for later viewing. Registrants have access to the conference website content for 60 days after the close of the conference.

I have other commitments during the days of the web conference. Will I be able to fit it in?

While there are a few live synchronous sessions during a web conference, most of the presentations are prerecorded. You can watch them at your convenience. In addition the live sessions are recorded and archived and can be watched at a later date. Registrants have access to the conference website content for 60 days after the close of the conference so you will have plenty of time to access all the conference?s content. Unlike a face to face conference, there are no ?concurrent sessions? to miss.

Will I have to sit at my computer all day to participate?

No, you can login and logout at your convenience. Participate as much or as little as you choose. There are a few live sessions each day ? plan to login and participate at those times to get the most out of your registration.

Do I need any special equipment to participate?

Your computer with internet access and a phone is all you will need. There is a brief ?tech check? that is sent to each registrant to make sure you have all the software components you need. There is no need to download any special software to participate.

If the sessions are prerecorded, how can I ask questions of the presenters?

With each prerecorded session, there is a posting area where you can post questions and comments. The presenters log into the conference website and answer questions frequently. Online chats with presenters are also scheduled each day of the conference.
