AACTE Dues Task Force Solicits Member and Non-Member Institution Input

The Task Force on Restructuring Membership Dues would like to obtain member and non-member institution input for the development of a membership survey. The data collected by this survey will be one of many tools used to guide the work of the Dues Task Force as it considers a reconfiguration of the current AACTE dues structure and the related questions of membership value. Data collected will address the following topics, among others:

  1. the current value of AACTE membership as perceived by member and non-member institutions
  2. the identification of potential services for future initiation and/or growth
  3. reactions to the way in which membership dues are currently calculated
As we design this survey tool, we would like your input on these and other topics. What issues would you like to see addressed on a full member and non-member survey? What concerns would you like to have brought before the Dues Task Force for their consideration? Please forward all questions or suggestions to Kim Murray, Coordinator for Membership, at at kmurray@aacte.org or by phone at (202) 293-2450 ext. 515.

AACTE Task Force on Restructuring Dues

In response to both member and potential member institution feedback, The AACTE Board of Directors appointed a Task Force on Restructuring Dues at the meeting in February. This Task Force will address a wide range of issues, including the development of an expanded dues structure that can accommodate institutions currently priced out of membership and the further development of system-wide membership plans. The Task Force will also consider the implications of any proposed dues changes to each member institution?s dues payments as well as the association?s financial picture. Information to be considered by the Task Force includes member and non-member institution surveys, procedural recommendations and data from related organizations that have recently undergone dues restructuring, and expertise from industry experts regarding the implications of potential changes for the association?s infrastructure. The Task Force will report back to the Board in February 2008.

Says AACTE President and CEO Sharon Robinson, ?We feel that an examination and possible reconfiguration of our dues structure is reasonable, and can help us open the doors to AACTE membership more widely. We also recognize that changes to the financial underpinnings of an organization can be made only after a thorough understanding of the implications of such changes has been gained. We will proceed as any responsible and responsive organization: in a way that is systematic as well as visionary.?

A complete list Task Force members is included, along with each member?s professional affiliations. Comments and suggestions are welcomed from member and potential member institutions. For more information or to give us your comments and suggestions, please contact Kim Murray, AACTE Coordinator for Membership, by e-mail at kmurray@aacte.org or by phone at 202-293-2450, ext. 515.
