Project Description

The Partnerships for Excellence in Teacher Education (PETE) project is an on-going initiative of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) to enhance the quality of teacher education by increasing the number of institutions that are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). Eighty-five PETE institutions have been accredited to date. The Ford Foundation currently supports the initiative.


Project Activities

  • Linking institutional, state, and national standards goals
  • Providing teacher education accreditation and assessment consultants to institutions
  • Assisting faculties in preparation for NCATE accreditation review
  • Developing leadership opportunities
  • Offering general resources to the professional education unit
