BUILD A FUTURE WITHOUT AIDS

Higher Education Organizations Funded by CDC

AACTE collaborates with the following national higher education associations that are funded under CDC initiatives to reduce the spread of HIV and prevent other serious health problems among college students.

American Association for Health Education (AAHE)
The HIV/AIDS Project seeks to strengthen teacher preparation in school health education, including HIV/AIDS prevention education, for elementary, middle, and special education teachers.

American Association of Community Colleges (AACC)
The Bridges to Healthy Communities project aims to build a community college infrastructure that supports education and information programs to prevent HIV infection and other serious health problems in students.

Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U)
The Program for Health and Higher Education project encourages universities to place a strong academic focus on the problem of HIV.

American College Health Association (ACHA)
The Building Healthy Campus Communities project works with student health centers and student organizations to prevent HIV, other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), unwanted pregnancies, and other serious health problems.

National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education (NAFEO)
The Young Adult's Health ?N Wellness Awareness project is working to develop culturally appropriate HIV/STD and wellness programs for youth and young adults in communities of color.

National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA)
The Health Education and Leadership Program (HELP) facilitates the infusion of comprehensive HIV/AIDS prevention methods into health promotion and disease prevention programs on college and university campuses.

Student National Medical Association (SNMA)
The HIV Intervention and Prevention Corps (HIP CORPS) is developing a standardized HIV prevention curriculum for students enrolled in medical and health science professional programs.

United Negro College Fund
The HOPE project works with historically black colleges and universities to build campus leadership in addressing HIV and eliminating health disparities.
