AACTE-MICROSOFT INNOVATIVE TEACHERS PROGRAM

The AACTE-Microsoft Innovative Teachers Program concluded its work July 30, 2004. The 2-year grant program built a community of learners to share their collective knowledge about successful technology integration in the classroom.

More than 50 AACTE member institutions participated in the program, which provided access to and training on software and technology tools, enabling preservice and inservice teachers to integrate technology into the learning process confidently. Working collaboratively with local schools and nonprofit agencies, grant recipients created interactive activities that delivered content in unique, engaging, and innovative ways.

Grant recipients and their students developed "virtual classroom tours" that—

  • Include innovative uses of technology both in delivering content and in student activities.
  • Are aligned with appropriate state and local educational technology standards
  • Can be adapted for a variety of learning levels and abilities
The virtual classroom tours are high-quality examples of technology-integrated PK-12 curriculum. More than a dozen of the tours, covering topics from science to art to social studies, are published on the Microsoft Education Web site at www.microsoft.com/Education/InTeachersVCT.asp
