In this collaboration between AACTE and the Consortium
for Excellence in Teacher Education, faculty from a variety
of institutions offer an honest portrayal of how they have adjusted to recent policy emphases on
assessment, standardization, and content knowledge for teachers and their preparation programs. Through
a series of forums and papers, the group has considered several related questions:
- What common issues does each school, college, or department of education (SCDE) face as it
develops programming to address the uniqueness of its institution?s size, resources, and student
populations?
- What are the costs and benefits of program and curricular standards?
- How do SCDEs marry content knowledge with pedagogy and clinical experience?
- Does the current pressure to make the assessment process more public assure quality and equity?
